AO Historical Timeline
1990: AO becomes one of the first supported living program in Southern Missouri as they began offering services in Springfield, MO.
1991: AO extends their supported living program to include Joplin.
1992: AO extends their supported living program to include Poplar Bluff.
1994: AO adds Employment Services and Youth/Family services.
1995 – 1999: AO continues to grow, expanding their services to Cape Girardeau, Farmington, Nevada, and Kansas City.
2002: AO expands to cover St. Louis.
2003: Lakes Country merged with AO providing an expansion of employment services for people with developmental disabilities, as well as vocational rehabilitation services. In addition, the merger allows AO to offer specialized services for the deaf and hard of hearing, along with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) services. As part of the Lakes Country merger, AO also joined with the Carol Jones Recovery Center for Women, which provides in-patient, out-patient, and transitional housing for substance abuse treatment. Family counseling, childcare, and Drug Court and DWI services are also provided.
2004: AO is awarded the Workforce Investment Contract in Southwest Missouri. In subsequent years, contracts have been awarded in the Ozark region and in southeast Missouri. AO also operates the Jobs for Missouri Graduates (JMG) at six high schools in the southwest and south central parts of the state.
2005: AO expands services in Kansas City and Rolla. AO is also awarded the Workforce Development contract for Southeast Missouri.
2006: AO joins with Brooke Care Supported Living Services (headquartered in Ava). AO is awarded the contract to provide Substance Abuse Services in Harrison and Mountain Home Arkansas. AO is also awarded the Privatized Case Management contract for youth in foster care.
2007: DaySpring Behavioral Health of Arkansas and Oklahoma become part of the AO family. Behavioral health services are provided at 22 sites throughout Arkansas, with both clinical and off-site services (primarily schools), and in Northeast Oklahoma, where behavioral health services are provided almost exclusively in off-site locations, such as individual homes, schools, and prisons. AO/DaySpring of Oklahoma has a significant contract with a large number of schools in Tulsa. Additionally, AO acquired Quality Care Supported Living Services in southeast Missouri.
2008: AO is awarded the federal contract for the Chafee Foster Care Independence program which provides support services to youth who are aging out of the foster care system.
2009: AO secures contracts to manage Motor Vehicle and License Offices. AO also expands substance abuse to include federal grants in servicing pregnant and post-partum women.
2010: AO is awarded a federal Department of Labor grant, “Pathways Out of Poverty,” which will provide training for “green” construction jobs in St. Louis. AO/DaySpring also received a contract to provide Intensive Family Services in 19 Arkansas counties. Beginning on July 1, 2010, personnel will begin supporting families who are in jeopardy of losing their children.
