Drug Courts
Alternative Opportunities, Inc. is a substance abuse treatment provider for Greene County Missouri’s Drug Courts. We coordinate our treatment responses with the other team members, community organizations, and formal and informal supports integral to the offender’s success and community safety. The four specialized drug courts are:
Adult Drug Court
First time felony drug offenders are accepted with the goal of stopping the revolving door of drug offenders (defendants) in and out of the judicial and substance abuse treatment. Upon completion, the offender has the felony drug offense removed from their record.
Family Dependency Treatment Court
Family Dependency Treatment Court (FDTC) links child protection services, substance abuse treatment, and the juvenile court to give the services needed to restore parents’ sobriety and provide for the safety and well-being of their children. By coming to FDTC, parents are saying they want to raise their children and will work hard to improve their parenting skills care of them.
Mother’s Choosing Change Court
MCC is a hybrid court that requires that participants meet the criteria for both Adult Drug Court and Family Dependency Treatment Court. Participants are first time felony drug offenders who are also parents reported through hotlines with substantiated child abuse and neglect charges. Through participation with Carol Jones Recovery Center and the other MCC team members, women are provided education, community outreach, and the opportunity to build a natural support system that will aid in their substance abuse recovery while working to provide safety and well-being for their children. The ultimate goal is to offer families the tools to rebuild their relationships based upon their own existing strengths to reunite parents with children.
DWI Court
A DWI Court is an accountability court dedicated to changing the behavior of the habitual offenders arrested for DWI. The goal of DWI Court or DWI/Drug Court is to protect public safety by using the highly successful and Nationally recognized Drug Court model that uses accountability and long-term treatment to address the root cause of impaired driving: alcohol and other substance abuse. DWI Court is an alternative to jail.
