Career Center Staffing Services:
In July 2010 the Division of Workforce Development and all Workforce Investment Boards across the State implemented the Next Generation Career Center model as a way to provide more effective service to customers. This model provides for integrated services to adult customers, which means Career Center staff are cross-trained to provide services to job-seekers. This moves away from the case management model used in the past in Career Centers, in which Division of Workforce Development staff were trained to provide some services, and WIBs contracted with agencies such as AO to provide other services, such as Workforce Investment Act services. Under this new model, WIB’s bid for contracts to provide staff to serve Career Center Customers. Sub-contractors are now held accountable for overall Career Center outcomes, rather than specific customer-based case management outcomes.
Staff is divided into three teams: Welcome, Skills Development, and Jobs. A team leader for each team is responsible for daily oversight of all team activities.
AO provides Career Center staffing in the Joplin and Monett Career Centers.
Functional Management:
Each Career Center has a functional manager that is responsible to create a work environment that encourages staff efforts to implement the Next Generation Career Center model. The functional leader, working with input from team leaders, schedules daily team assignments, ensures staff is trained, and coordinates activities designed to help ensure that the Next Generation Career Center goals are met.
AO provides functional management in the Joplin Career Center.
